For me, creative portraiture begins with one simple idea: Anything past the stand-and-smile.
A creative session isn't necessarily about elaborate costumes, fantasy worlds, or filling a photograph with props. It might be a romantic beach session, but instead of simply standing on the shoreline and smiling at the camera, we create something cinematic. You walk into the waves. Water crashes around you. Your partner opens his shirt and you pose together like you're on the cover of a romance novel.
Or maybe we wrap you in twinkle lights. Use mirrors to create unexpected reflections. Bring empty frames into the landscape. Play with movement, perspective, shadows, or dramatic light. Maybe your session tells a story that is deeply personal. Maybe it's inspired by a favorite movie, a character, a painting, a childhood dream, or an idea that has been living in your head for years. And sometimes, the creative element is something we could never have planned. I've photographed a maternity session celebrating a rainbow baby and during the session, an actual rainbow appeared in the sky. Those are the moments that remind me why I love creative portraiture. A Note About Locations & Additional Costs
Your session can take place at one of my recommended locations or somewhere that fits your concept.
If your vision requires a studio, Airbnb, specialty location, permit, additional location, or other location-related expense, those costs are added to your final session investment.
We'll talk through those details during the planning process so there are no surprises.

Yes. Depending on your concept, I can help with wardrobe direction, prop ideas, styling considerations, hair and makeup recommendations, and visual references.
For more involved concepts, we'll use the planning process to create a cohesive visual direction before your session.
Can you create images that look like something from a movie or magazine?
Yes. Cinematic and editorial-inspired imagery can be part of a creative portrait session.
